Queen Charlotte, the cast: Michelle Fairley is Princess Augusta
The actress playing King George’s mother, Princess Augusta, in the Netflix series Queen Charlotte – A Bridgerton Story is the Northern Irish actress Michelle Fairley.
She’s a famous actress active since 1986, easily recognizable for many roles: above all, she’s best known for her role as Catelyn Stark in the HBO series Game of Thrones. You can find below a collection of her best moments from the famous fantasy series.
As a young adult, Michelle Fairley began her career in theater. She relocated to London in 1986 and participated in a number of well-received theatre performances; rumors have it that her portrayal of Emilia, Iago’s wife, in Shakespeare’s Othello helped her land the part of Catelyn Stark years later.
Michelle Fairley is well-known for her performances in the TV shows 24, Suits, and Resurrection in addition to Game of Thrones. In Philomena, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (where she played Mrs. Granger, Hermione Granger’s mother), and The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, she also made an appearance.
Fairley has won recognition for her acting prowess and has been nominated for numerous awards during her career. In 2013, she took home the Irish Film & Television Award for Best Actress.
It’s interesting to note that Michelle Fairley previously portrayed Margaret Beaufort, the mother of Henry VII, in the Starz television series The White Princess, in addition to her role as Princess Augusta in Queen Charlotte.
According to Netflix’s description of Queen Charlotte before its premiere, Michelle Fairley “ditches the Stark family’s drab black capes and furs for the finery of Princess Augusta, the de facto head of the monarchy and King George’s very, let’s say, involved mother.” The Netflix audience will find a lot of interesting components in it and will no doubt appreciate what she brings to the show in terms of talent.
